Update 3.0 Development Diaries with Scott Almes!
about 2 years ago – Wed, Apr 13, 2022 at 09:18:51 PM

Hey everyone!

For today’s update, we are excited to share with you all a snippet of a message shared from us by the designer of Silicon Valley himself, Scott Almes!

You can check out the entire article below on BGG - but we wanted to share a piece of it here with you all today.

" I love innovation.

Just wanted to make sure that is said. I love solving new problems, exploring new tech, and disrupting the current standard. In my day job, I lead an innovation team. And, I live and breathe product. When I’m really interested in something there is one way I love to dive deep into: designing a board game around it. I love paleontology, especially the storied history of science, so I created The Great Dinosaur Rush. I’m a whiskey fan, so I designed Angel’s Share. So, it was time for me to create a game centered around innovation.

That is where the idea for this game started. I wanted to explore that part of my life through a game. It is a very theme-first design. And that is where I started to build. What would the theme and feel of this game be?

I wanted folks to create their own story around tech innovation. Specifically, the struggles and woes of creating a startup with a scrappy product and trying to create a world-changing product. That is something to admire about the world of innovation: nobody thinks small. And, for a game, that’s a great challenge for the players. Start with something small and grow it. ”

UPDATE 2.0
about 2 years ago – Tue, Apr 12, 2022 at 02:44:34 AM

Greetings entrepreneurs!

Thank you for the continued support for Silicon Valley! This is one of the “geekiest” games we’ve produced at Grail and we are so excited you all are intrigued by what we have to offer!

As with all our Kickstarters, the community steers the campaign and Silicon Valley will be no exception! We have plans for updates, more stretch goals, interviews, and more but we do want to make note of our communication expectations. We will be in the comments daily, answering as many questions as we can. The weekends will be the only time you don’t hear from us as we are making an effort to separate work and life by sharing those weekend moments with our families and friends and of course by getting a ton of board games to the tables!

Speaking of, what board games are you all playing? We’d love to know in the comments!

Let’s Take it to the Polls!

We have two covers that we are excited to show off and each gives such a different perspective on the game! So that’s where you all come in! Head on over to BGG and let us know which cover you like best!

That’s all for now, but we’ll be in touch on Monday so stay tuned, in the meantime, we hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and happy gaming!

Update 1.0 - Packaging Solutions (Containers) and Stretch Goals provided by your favorite Start-Up!
about 2 years ago – Tue, Apr 12, 2022 at 02:43:13 AM

Hello everyone!

Welcome to this first Update for our campaign : Silicon Valley!

Today we'll be talking Containers and Unlocked Stretch Goals thanks to you, the benevolent investors! Huh... I mean backers!

Containers

Since the first pictures we showed of the game, it has of course evolved and one of the key elements we are always taking into account is ease of play.

Your polyominoes (Chips) were at first setup on the main board which took more place than necessary and wasn't very practical. Then came up the idea of having containers to place them inside! But, with additionnal space freed from the main game board there was now a need to better organise it. We saw this as a great occasion to build a new one! Just bellow you can see a rendition of what it may look like. Warning though, this is not the final product!

Work in Progress

So, what do you guys think of this improved board and containers?

Unlocked Stretch Goals

Thanks to you we have managed to unlock 2 stretch goals already!

> Wooden Pieces with White Silkscreen Icons

Silkscreening is a process in which ink is printed through stencils. This is a great method that allows us to offer you even better looking tokens. The first step towards your Start-Up success!

> Extra art for employees

Employee cards are now going to get extra art from Kerri Aitken! A great way to add diversity and enjoy our roaster of Tech magicians!

Work in Progress

That's it for this update everyone,

We're counting on you to help us unlock new Stretch Goals!

Now let's get ready to go to the coworking space, I heard they hired new baristas...

We are Funded!
about 2 years ago – Wed, Apr 06, 2022 at 07:24:54 PM

Hello everyone!

We are very glad to announce that we've been founded in the first 24 hours of game's launch! Another game that will be able to reach the tables and be played across the World!

What's next now?

For the more than 200 backers already here and future ones to come, we're aiming Stretch Goals! We'll make an update every day or two to tell you all about what was unlocked and happened in the Campaign.

Stay tuned as some polls may appear as we did on previous Kickstarters to see what the community would like to come!

Community and building a campaign together is very important to us and we make it a priority to read comments on both Kickstarter and BGG as well as our private messages.

Let's reach this first Stretch Goal together!

In the meantime feel free to join us on our Socials!
